The White River State Park is Indiana's only urban state park. And the park is  near many other places to take a photography adventure, like the Indiana State Museum, Indianapolis Zoo and White River Gardens, the Eiteljorg Museum, the Congressional Medal of Honor Memorial, and Victory Field. Of course, there is also the beautiful canal that runs through the park and into a community of condominiums and resort hotels. This is often the destination of choice for photography and art classes on field trips. When at the park, if you are particularly attracted to water features, there are several places down by the White River with waterfalls over rocks or walls. These are really good for creating the stop-action effect with fast shutter speeds or the "cotton-candy" effect with slow shutter speeds, especially at early evening when the sun is going down behind the zoo. Don't forget your tripod if you are using slow shutter speeds.
