Chicago Photography Classes

Chicago Photography Classes

Photography, unlike social etiquette, encourages people to point, flash, and don matching Cosby sweaters in public. Hone your socially acceptable sharpshooting with today’s Groupon: for $ 45, you get a three-hour Date Night photo class for two at Richard Stromberg’s Chicago Photography Classes on Ravenswood Avenue (a $ 90 value). Classes take place Saturdays at 5 p.m. from January 7 to March 31; participants may supply their own DSLR cameras or borrow one for the class.Richard Stromberg’s Saturday Date Night photo class shows students the ropes of digital photo taking in an informal setting enhanced with wine and cheese. A one-hour meet-and-greet kicks off the session, allowing students to get to know their classmates and exchange introductions with their instructor over hors d’oeuvres and wine. During this time, participants can peruse artfully displayed 16″x20″ prints from previous students and challenge portraits to staring contests in the LED-lit WithInSight gallery. Fueled-up photogs then learn about DSLR camera features and functions, including how to get the most out of one’s own camera, or, for prospective buyers, which cameras and features might best suit individual needs. Before shuffling home to practice newly learned techniques, an open discussion lets students ask any questions that may have come up during class or inquire about which types of cheese produce the best smiles.
