Taking a break from game analysis and highlights Sunday night,Costas took a minute or two to note Saturday morning's tragedy in Kansas City where Javon Belcher shot and killed his girlfriend,the mother of his 4 month old child.in front of his own mother.He then drove to Arrowhead Stadium,where he encountered teammanagement and staff in the parking lot,including head coach Romeo Crennell and general manager Scott Pioli.He thanked them for everything they had done for his career before pulling the trigger on himself.About 36 hours later on Sunday night,Costas dared to question the conventional wisdom of America's gun culture.Some came out of the woodwork to shame Costas and others for mixing opinion,allegedly left-wing politics and dicey issues with sports.Their argument goes,Sports is a means of escape for fans who want to forget about everything else in their lives for 3 hours any given Sunday.politics and polarizing issues have no place in the game.Bob Costas should shut-up and just talk football."
