Smencils

Smencils

A few years ago, my best friend from London sent me an odd set of pencils. They were made from 100% recycled newspaper and individually packaged in biodegradable plastic tubes. These pencils were actually Smencils, each posessing a different gourmet scent. I usually melt over writing supplies, but I have to admit I put these in the back of the drawer. Who needs a pencil in a tube? I already had my collection of Mr. Sketch markers when I needed a whiff of something new. Then one day I couldn’t find a sharpened pencil and remembered the Smencils. Presharpened, I excitedly took one out of the tube. Cotton candy. Yum. It brought me back to the joys of a recent baseball game. I’ve been hooked ever since. This holiday, I discovered that Smencils come in a variety of holiday flavors too - gingerbread, candy cane, sugar plum, cinna-what, and holiday cheer. Although I sniffed them when they first came out in November, I haven’t been able to get my hands on my own set. I’m hoping Santa might find a way to sneak some into my stocking this year. There’s something wonderful about the idea of smelling gingerbread while I brainstorm during the upcoming year. It might extend the joy of the holiday season at least a little bit into January.
