Powerup Rewards
GameStop’s PowerUp Rewards program is in full swing. Unfortunately,
it may be a couple years before you actually earn any rewards. Why?
Because it’s going to take you quite a while to actually earn any
reward.Yes, you do get 10 points per dollar on each new game or
console purchase, 20 points per dollar on each used game purchase and 20
points per dollar when you trade in games. That helps. But even then,
if you want a decent reward (read: trinket) like Call of Duty dog
tags or a Mario keychain, you’ll need 3,000 points. Minus the 500
points you get for activating your account and creating a game library, you still need to earn 2,500 points. The cheapest “reward” is a 1,000 point Game Protection Guarantee for a
game under $10, which will allow you to get another copy of said game if
something happens to it within 12 months. Of course, no one will want
or bother with that,
